The word "Reiki" comes from the Japanese words "rei," meaning "Universal", and "ki," meaning "Energy". Reiki is the life force energy that flows through all living things. This gentle energy is administered by light touch or no touch while the client is fully clothed in a relaxed setting. A series of hand positions are used, and the client may feel different sensations, such as warmth, coolness, tingling, or a sensation of water flowing. Some may just feel relaxed, but this does not diminish its effectiveness.

Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure. Improving the flow of energy around the body can enable relaxation, relieve pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness and fatigue.Reiki works on all levels of ourselves (physical, mental and emotional) to bring us to our natural state of wholeness where we feel balanced, full energy and at peace. Often in our daily life we forget to listen to what our bodies are trying to tell us or listen to what we are feeling. Stress can build up and we can get caught up in thoughts or feelings that aren't for our highest best good. Reiki can help the body reset and empower us on a path that is more beneficial.
